I was looking through some past photos I had taken and came across a set of images of brambling and chaffinch at the feeding station at moore nr in march 04. One of my favourite birds is brambling so with a combination of several images I came up with this watercolour.

Seaforth NR,

A white-rumped sandpiper was an excellent find at Seaforth today. Viewing through the fence and into the sun the views were not good. It was quite distant but once you had got onto it, the sandpiper stood out from the dunlins with its pale belly and elongated shape and spotted flanks. Most of the dunlins still sporting thier black bellies.

Prescot Reservoirs,
Friday the 13th was a very productive day at the reservoirs. Early morning produced ringed plover, redshank and dunlin.5 common sandpipers were around most of the day. A superb adult summer med gull called in but best of all a hobby gave a flying display as it chased a house martin unsuccessfully.
In the afternoon 12 common terns (1 juv) stayed for half an hour. A very early returning female Wheatear was looking forlorn in the heavy rain at wheatear corner.

Thursday 12th July A Drake common scoter was still present after arriving yesterday. 45 tufted duck, 2 ruddy duck 12 great creasted grebe and 96 coot kept it company.
